Fionn mac Cumhaill: Irish Mythology Hero and Legend

The Fionn mac Cumhaill Series is a series of Irish mythological and adventure novels based around some of the early events outlined in Macgnímartha Finn (The Boyhood Deeds of Fionn).

An exciting contemporary version of a narrative that’s almost a thousand years old, it recounts the adventures of Fionn during his upbringing at Ráth Bládhma and of the people who protected him there (his aunt Bodhmhall, the woman warrior Liath Luachra, Fiacail mac Codhna and Muirne Muncháem). Despite being a work of historical fiction, the series aligns completely with the original 12th century manuscript on which it is based.

At this stage there are six novels planned:

Book 0: Liath Luachra: The Grey One (a prequel available in ebook and hardcopy form)
Book 1: Defence of Ráth Bladhma (available in ebook and hardcopy form)
Book 2: Traitor of Dún Baoiscne (available in ebook form and in hardcopy form from Amazon)
Book 3: The Adversary
Book 4: The Salmon of Secret Wisdom
Book 5: Untitled

I enjoy writing this Irish fantasy series as it allows me to directly introduce some of the stranger and less well known elements from Irish mythology (without having to worry too much about analysing them). For that reason, although the books are as authentic as I can make them, they’re also pure, unadulterated action and adventure.

The first four books (books 0-3) focus predominantly on the characters of the female druid Bodhmhall (Fionn’s aunt and guardian) and Liath Luachra, a woman warrior.
